Our rights at work are again under attack from the Abbott Government and employer groups

It has become even clearer that the full-scale Productivity Commission inquiry into our rights at work could deliver cuts to penalty rates, the abolition of the minimum wage, bring back unfair individual contracts and swing even more power to the employers.

The time to stand up and fight back is now.

Join together with thousands of our neighbours, workmates, friends and families by taking part in a nationwide protest on Wednesday 4 March.

Workers can’t stand idle while the Abbott Federal Government destroys our living standards by:

  • Cutting our wages, penalty rates, conditions and rights at work
  • Slashing Medicare and hiking up the costs to see a doctor
  • Introducing $100,000 university degrees
  • Cutting the ABC and our public services
  • Cutting back the pension and superannuation
  • Implementing harsh changes to unemployment benefits and
  • Cutting the community services that support our most vulnerable

If you have had enough and want to stand up for an Australia where seeing a doctor or going to university isn’t dependent on how big your bank balance is, where you have a secure job with a decent wage and where we don’t leave the next generation, our kids, with less rights than we had – then members are encouraged to join thousands of workers across the country in protest.

If you are not on duty or have access to authorised leave such as ARL, LSL or an RDO and live in or around Sydney, Canberra or Newcastle, then we are encouraging members to join with other Union members at the following protest locations:

Sydney – 12:30pm at NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street Sydney

Canberra – 12:15pm at New Parliament House, Parliament Drive Canberra

Newcastle – 10:00am at Newcastle Town Hall, 290 King Street Newcastle

The ACTU and State Labour Councils are in discussion about nominating further regional protest locations. If and/or when these additional sites are confirmed – we will advise members accordingly.
