Australia Post: Celebrating 200 years

By cutting more than 200 jobs

Australia Post, without any notice, consultation or negotiation have announced a plan to consolidate it's nationwide customer contact centre (CCC) network by cutting 285 jobs, 181 of those in NSW alone.

The Union is vowing to fight the job cuts announced by Australia Post

Where to from here?
  • The most important thing employees of the Customer Contact Centre need to do as soon as possible, regardless of their intentions following Post's announcement, is to join the CEPU to ensure their voices and concerns are raised and represented with management and to ensure that the Union is as strong as possible when working through this issue. If you are not yet a member of the CEPU, time is running out to join. Click here to join now.

  • The CEPU has sought urgent meetings at the highest National and State levels to discuss the announcement and attempt to mitigate the affects of the consolidation on it's members.

  • By making this decision without any input and/or proper consultation from the Union, Australia Post has broken their own industrial instruments and agreements - instruments and agreements that tell them they must consult and give Unions a chance to "influence their decision" - before the decision is made.

  • This is the current attitude that has gripped senior management in Australia Post.

  • The Union's absolute focus when attempting to consult on this major change will be to represent the voices and concerns of it's members. If you are not yet a member of the CEPU, time is running out to join. Click here to join now.

  • Permanent employees have been assured of no involuntary redundancies. The CEPU cannot see how 181 employees can be redeployed within NSW when there aren't 181 jobs currently available - or even close to it. The CEPU will be representing the concerns and preferences of it's members when negotiating with management. If you are not yet a member of the CEPU, time is running out to join. Click here to join now.

  • Employees should not engage in any discussion with management regarding their intentions following the announcement of the CCC closure without the presence of a CEPU representative or Official. This service will only be provided to CEPU members. If you are not yet a member of the CEPU, time is running out to join. Click here to join now.
