EBA7 Bargaining Claim Summary


This summary of the core bargaining claim will guide our bargaining in EBA7. We will campaign for basic rights and a “fair go” in Australia Post workplaces.

Improved pay

  • A decent pay increase, retention of penalty rates and overtime payments
  • Right of part-time employees to access penalty and overtime payments
  • Improved superannuation benefits and financial services for mature-age workers
  • Income protection
Protecting conditions
  • Protection of conditions and redundancy entitlements to the extent the new laws allow
  • A dispute settling procedure that allows the AIRC to arbitrate disputes
  • Travel cover to and from work
  • Retention of uniform entitlements
Job security
  • Protecting permanent full-time jobs including jobs in regional and country areas
  • Conversion from part-time to full-time positions
  • Consultative forums to influence decisions before they are made and the right to choose to be represented by a union
Work and family balance
  • Right to request flexible work conditions for work/family and caring responsibilities
  • Paid maternity leave of 14 weeks
  • The right to work part-time until child reaches school age
General and job specific
  • Healthy and safe workplaces and working conditions including training managers how to manage compassionately
  • No extension of dedicated outdoor delivery (DODO)
  • Maintaining job security regardless of franchising
  • No unrealistic sort rates
  • Job rotation that provides a variety of different activities and uses different skills
  • Develop new linehaul drivers designation
  • Tonnage allowance paid to drivers regardless of when qualification used
  • Technical employees to have access to Diploma level qualification
  • Equal opportunity to access training and nationally recognised qualifications
  • Right of employees to consult and follow advice of own treating doctor without threat of disciplinary action
